Cycling is a fun and easy way to get active and there are lots of places throughout the district to go get started.

There are fantastic opportunities across Lewes district and Eastbourne for anyone who prefers to travel on two wheels and lots of opportunities for people who haven’t been on a bike for years.

To hire or buy a second hand bike in Eastbourne go to LetsBike-Eastbourne (Tel: 07875 591648) or to buy a second-hand bike try Rebicycled in nearby Hailsham. Let’s Bike is currently the only bike hire available in Eastbourne.

To hire, buy or repair your bike in Lewes there are two Cycleshack shops. offering services and information to customers with a wide range of ability. They also run a Cycle to work scheme with 0% finance on any purchase over £500.

Cycling is allowed on the seafront at the eastern end at Sovereign Gardens to Fishermans Green and at the western end from the Wish Tower to Uppder Dukes Drive on a shared foot path at road level. Cycling is not allowed on any other part of the seafront
